What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Due to icy roads, the Genesis slid into a curb at a slow rate of speed. The vehicle did not go up on to the curb and the speed was very slow. There were scratches on the wheel, but no other body damage or contact. Four airbags violently deployed in a spectacular overreaction which could have caused injury.
I experienced a significant safety issue while operating my vehicle. After initiating a turn, the vehicle's acceleration defaulted, causing it to reach speeds of 60 mph in just a few seconds. This rapid increase in speed resulted in the loss of control, leading the vehicle to crash into a guardrail.
I have been getting a number of safety warning lights since about 6 months after buying this car. It is new, under warranty and I am first owner. They were intermittent initially, but have become increasingly frequent and are now associated with a constant warning ping.
I was in a collision where another vehicle crashed into me at the driver's side front corner of my car. The other driver was going at least 30 miles per hour; I was probably going 10-20 miles per hour. None of my airbags deployed despite the collision resulting in a total loss to my vehicle.
The driver's seat belt was fastened however it failed to restrain him during the impact. The air bags deployed. The contact stated according to the police report filed, the fatality of their father-in-law was caused by seat belt failure.
I was driving my vehicle down a pier to the parking entrance for the USS Midway, [address], San Diego, [ZIP], when for no reason my 2022 GV70, AWD, veered sharply (45 degrees) to the right and made violently contact with a cement block on the pier used to moor ships.
The air bags did not deploy. No warning lights were displayed on the instrument panel. A police report was filed. The other driver was transported via ambulance to be treated for undisclosed injuries. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and later towed to an independent mechanic, where it remained.
Hello, I am writing to file a complaint regarding the seatbelt mechanism in my Genesis vehicle and to request an investigation into the issue. The seatbelt system in my car rapidly retracts with no slack. This excessive force can potentially cause serious injuries.
