I was slowly pulling into a parking space directly in front of a dance studio with a large floor-to-ceiling window. There were four children and a dance instructor standing inside near the window. As I was coming to a stop to park, my foot was on the brake.
The entire event felt like a loss of braking and control, with both the brake system and gear selector failing to function as intended. This was a sudden and dangerous incident that could have caused serious injury.
The car accelerated brakes did not work or did not function. The. “Brakes “word (brown color ) flashed 2 x. I was going to work I parked on the upper level of the parking structure. AS I was doing rear parking I adjusted the car forward to align with the parking slot .
The contact was recently in reverse (R) backing up an alley at 3 MPH when the rear view camera failed. The contact crashed into a concrete bollard and dented the rear left fender behind the rear left wheel well. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
The engine started making a very noticeable knocking sound, (obviously a rod knock). We immediately parked the vehicle until it could be towed to a Honda dealer. The dealership confirmed it was rod knock, and suggested we put a new short block engine in.
