What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained minor head and chest injuries from striking the steering wheel. The contact's child, who was seated in the rear passenger seat, sustained bruising. Medical attention was required. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed from the scene and deemed destroyed.
The air bags did not deploy. No police report was filed and no injuries were sustained. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 58,600.
On may 16, 2016 I was driving my 2005 hyundai on a city street and it started to surge and I had to put my foot on the brake to slow it down but it wouldn't stop. Luckily I was close to home and was able to get it in the driveway but the unfortunate part is it didn't stop until it hit my house.
The contact stated that while driving at approximately 20 mph, the brake pedal was applied and the brakes failed to engage causing the contact to crash into a curb. The contact was not injured. In addition, the failure caused the front driver's side tire to be pushed backward.
The other vehicle is totaled and my air bags never deployed when they definitely should have. I smash my head due to the air bags not deploying but everyone else was safe!!
The last incident caused injuries because the air bag failed to deploy. The first incident was in a parking lot where the car had unintended acceleration and crashed into several cars. Second incident was on the road where car sped up and she turned it off.
Traction control system (tcs) has twice now thrown the vehicle into violent and uncontrollable out of control skid on hard packed snow. The tcs exaserbated what should have been a normal slow speed curve to the right on hard packed snow. The first incident was on a slight incline with a curve to the right.
The car would suddenly surge when I stepped on the gas peddle. This time it surged and I backed into my friends vehicle in my driveway. Estimated damge was $4000.00 with both cars. After the body repair the check engine light came on for an hour then went off.
