What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
The front driver tire blew out causing the driver to hit the curb which caused the SUV to roll 4 times. The driver was ejected from the vehicle while wearing a seat belt and not one air bag deployed. Major safety issues
The air bags did not deploy. The contact stated that the passenger air bag and the rear seat belts did not function. There were no injuries; however, the driver sought medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not drivable and was towed to an independent mechanic.
I also believe the seatbelt did not lock as it is supposed to when a crash occurs. I say that because the right side my head hit the roof of the vehicle and I received a large hematoma. Initially I thought it was because the roof had caved in.
The contact stated that the steering failed and, due to the contact attempting to apply the brakes, the vehicle began to spin. The vehicle crashed into the road divider. The passenger side of the vehicle was damaged. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed. A police report was filed.
Months prior, twice on same day engine power died while driving. Hyundai replaced throttle position sensor.
I was backing up and as I turned the wheel the car engaged in a sudden acceleration as the motor started to rev. I applied the brakes, but the car would not stop until it plowed through a brick wall at my school.
Integrity of the fire wall failed resulting in metal pushing past the firewall in to the drivers side area entrapping the leg on the femur. This injury resulted in a dangerous amount of blood loss in to the cavity of the thigh.
Engine rattles noise when starting the car after sitting for more than an hour it makes that sound another issue is that when i turn the headlights on all interior lights shuts off including the instrument cluster radio and ac climate control buttons
