While getting over into another lane to pass a vehicle my car stalled for a few seconds while trying to accelerate and I was almost rear ended by another car. Two months ago I went to accelerate on the freeway and the engine just revved up until I took my foot off the gas.
60,000 miles I began to stall out. This happened 2 times before I completely figured out that I was out of gas but yet my fuel gauge read half a tank or more. After stalling a 3rd time and found out that it was misreading the fuel level and luckily I had purchased a gas jug to carry in my trunk at all times.
Car showed over half tank of gas then began spuddering and stalled in the middle of traffic. Added gas, car starts and runs fine.
Now two years and about 20k miles later the fuel gauge assembly is not working again as confirmed by infiniti service today (1/30/2012). I've read many post where this seems to be an issue with the 2003-2004 m45 models. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)
The car was vibrating constantly, and I felt the vibrations prominently through the steering wheel. Within twelve hours of delivery, I contacted infiniti about the safety issues via email and telephone. On 1/5/2012, I brought the vehicle to the service department at infiniti.
