What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 infiniti q50 hybrid. The contact stated that after accidentally reversing into a pole, the vehicle accelerated forward independently. As a result, the contact crashed into three other vehicles. The contact shifted into park and was able to bring the vehicle to a stop.
While driving at approximately 65 mph, while going into a right curve the steering wheel jerked to the left without warning. The driver crashed into a guardrail. The adaptive cruise control and active lane control systems were activated at the time of the crash.
In addition, several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the steering wheel had seized. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent at first but then became a persistent failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer.
The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, he became aware that the electronic power steering was not functioning properly, requiring increased effort to maneuver the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic.
The contact stated while driving 50-55 MPH, the vehicle stalled inadvertently, and nearly collided with a semi-truck. Several messages indicating a malfunction, and a message indicating that the hybrid battery was overheating were displayed. Additionally, several unknown warning lights were illuminated.
While driving 30 mph, the "chassis system malfunction" message displayed and the brakes failed to engage when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact turned off the vehicle to correct the failure, but the vehicle failed to restart.
Following that all of the dash lights illuminated, the system reported 2 sensor failures and a chassis control failure. The dealership has determined this is due to an electrical short in the rear abs sensor. This is the third electrical system issue I have had but is the most serious.
Five were blowouts on the road and two I caught with bubbles in the tire. I have never had a blowout on any other car I have owned for 35 years. The tires are very low profile and seem to be very susceptible to the sidewalls failing.
