What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Once started it runs like a top even restarting immediately after accidental clutch dump stall issues. Going to the grocery store in the middle of the day is not an option any more and I hesitate to take passengers or pets anywhere I go.
The first time this incident occurred I slowed down to approximately 5 miles an hour, as the vehicle in front of me was turning and my vehicle shut off. I have contacted a general motors dealership and they stated that they are aware of issues where the chevy colorado's and gmc canyon's have timing issues to the point…
Drivers side door power window and power lock switch is working intermittently and vehicle has a slow battery drain requiring a jump start if it sits for longer than one day. Even one day is questionable for starting without a jump.
The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the anti-theft system warning light illuminated. As a result, the contact was unable to start the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure.
The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. Thee contact had not taken the vehicle to the dealer or notified the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 56,780.
Of 2010 because the reduce power light came on and was only able to drive about 15 miles/hr. While driving or idling the engine would just kill. Still under warranty with approx 68,000 miles, I took it into the dealer for repairs, all they did was change the camshaft actuator.
The contact stated that the vehicle activated in reduced power mode without warning. The vehicle independently decelerated to 30 mph and became hesitant to acceleration attempts. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where the dealer reprogrammed the ecm but to no avail.
The contact stated that the vehicle idled excessively 'rough' and at times, would stall when parked or sitting at a traffic light. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership for a diagnostic test but the dealer could not locate a problem. The failure mileage was approximately 300. The current mileage was 45,341.
