What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Relevant information---engine was repaired on sept. 9/10, 2012 same morning as the accident--car was driven to bank but as I was leaving I could not put car into reverse. A gentleman passerby was able to put it into reverse with effort and a loud noise in the gears.
He mentioned that although he was properly wearing his seat belt and the airbag deployed, it failed to protect him. He mentioned that his head and right hand hit into the windshield and shattered it. He also suffered a concussion and injuries to his knees. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed.
When this occurred, the vehicle lost steering power assist and brakes. The vehicle stopped when it hit an object. The driver then put vehicle into drive and turned the ignition off, but the vehicle accelerated forward. The vehicle then made several turns before stopping again. This failure occurred once before.
The air bags did not deploy and the passenger's side seat belt did not restrain the passenger. The consumer was inquiring about the status of the original complaint.
Consumer states that when vehicle was hit in the front center air bags did not deploy, causing minor injuries to the consumer. Dealer notified.
When vehicle came to rest in a ditch driver noticed that rear center seat belt did not restrain css properly, it slid down between front and rear seats.
Left front tire tread separated. Cientera medalisc/bf goodrich, and goodyear p20565r15. There were no injuries reported.
Brakes failed. Hard pressure on brake pedal resulted in no braking from a speed of 25mph. Car was stopped when it hit a house. Damage appears total. Abs brakes have failed in two earlier incidents: one required about $800 of repairs and some property damage.
