What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
I was told that it has a recall on the front suspension lower ball joints that was issued on 03/28/2003. I contacted a dealership for an appointment to get it fixed and they said they would order the ball joints.
Tl* the contact owns a 1999 plymouth prowler. While driving the vehicle, the front axle detached. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure.
This car is like new with only 5000 mi on it but for some reason the electric window on the passenger side is out and does not work--car has been garaged its whole life so it is a definite defect from chrysler corp--- I have heard some electric window regulators made by chrysler cause fires
My car has a leaking transmission, and could burn up the system if not fixed
Tl* the contact owns a 1999 plymouth prowler. While the vehicle was being serviced for regular maintenance, the mechanic noticed that the front lower ball joints were fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired a few years back for the same failure under a manufacturer recall.
The contact stated that the vehicle loss power and stalled with no warning several times. The contact mentioned that force had to be applied to the brake pedal each time the failure occurred before it would restart. The vehicle was to be towed to an authorized dealer for further inspection and diagnosis.
Hood shocks do not support hood weight. The hood crashes down and I need to put a support pole there to hold it up. Replacing the shocks does not help--it only happens again. Many other prowler owners are experiencing the same thing.
1999 plymouth prowler hood supports will not hold up hood. Hood may fall injuring head, fingers and or hands.
