What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Two weeks later, I experienced complete brake failure, without warning and the only way to stop was to hit the car in front of me. No warning lights illuminated, there were no other warnings prior to complete brake failure. I called my dealer who denied any problems.
The headlights faded out and the rpms dropped to 5 mph. No cars around me, I stopped the car, put into park and tried to restart it twice. Nothing happened ?? No sounds from the engine. I immediately put my hazard lights on. Then a car passed me on the right. I saw headlights of a car approx.
Tl* the contact owns a 2002 volvo c70 convertible. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The electronic throttle control light illuminated. The failure occurred constantly. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired.
The vehicle unexpectedly accelerates, the vehicle intermittently hesitates and sometimes stops when driving at speeds between 30 and 60 mph. The vehicle does not start. The check engine light does not come on. Codes to diagnose the problem are not available via odb 2.
Convertible top back bar structure cracked in half and top will not operate(close or open) now. While the top broke, as I was opening it, it also fell on the sensor for the lock and broke that also.
My vehicle is surging violently which is symptomatic of the etm failure as indicated by your action # pe5041. I called volvo na and they confirmed that the recall was 10 years/200k miles.
