On 06-02-2024, at approximately 1430 hours, I was stopped in Traffic, because of a Red Traffic light and I was the last Vehicle in line. In less than a minute later, I was hit by another Vehicle.
Knocked the parked car in front about 8 feet, turned and knocked another car on the side. I stood on the breaks, it went another 10 feet and engine stopped. I never heard this level of acceleration of engine ever before. The airbags for me and my passenger did not open.
The contact stated while entering into a parking lot, the vehicle accelerated on its own without any warning, causing the contact to strike some plants in the parking lot and causing damages under the vehicle. No one was injured. A police report was filed. The dealer was contacted but did not diagnose the vehicle.
There was no reported fire. The vehicle was towed to an impound yard. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 18,000. The insurance deemed the vehicle a total loss.
The first instance occurred on 07/26/2022, traveling down the interstate, when both passenger side run flat tires blew out the sidewalls at approximately 15,000 miles.
The contact had to engage the parking brake to stop the vehicle. There were no warning indicator lights illuminated. While the vehicle was idling in the driveway, the vehicle lunged forward, crashed into an unknown vehicle and the vehicle drove into the garage.
On October 15, 2026, at approximately 5:50 PM EDT, my 2022 BMW X5 (VIN: [VIN], approximately 43,797 miles) caught fire in the engine compartment. I noticed a burning smell while driving in Bound Brook, NJ, pulled over, and saw flames coming from the engine bay. There was no collision.
The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start immediately or hesitated while starting. The messages "Goodbye" and "Pre-ventilation" were displayed. The contact attempted to start the vehicle several times before the vehicle was able to start. The contact related the failure to the starter.
