What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Backing out of driveway and screen went black and a collision occurred a second or two later. We have had the Lyriq in the shop multiple times for glitchy screens and screen going black but never has been fully resolved.
They also cracked the glass on the computer screen but denied they did it. Was planning to enact the Lemon Law on the car. Car now in repair shop. VELLOCITY COLLISION CENTER, [address] STE 100, LAS VEGAS, [ZIP] TEL [phone]. Called GM Cadillac to inform them of information on accident.
The gauge cluster/infotainment screen dims automatically when the light sensor on the dash senses the environment has gotten darker. The problem is that this happens extremely early at dusk/dark hours when it's still fairly bright outside, and the brightness of the screen is too dim to see things clearly.
The entire left portion of the screen became inoperable and remained a black screen despite attempts to reset the system. The left side of the screen contains information such as gear selection, speedometer, lane keep assist, and many other important information.
Weather was dry. Time was 5:30 PM - still sunlit. Driving down the interstate, 70 MPH in the middle lane of a three lane highway. Super Cruise is active, no cars in front of me within 500+ feet. I MAY recall a partially blown tire in the lane to my left.
Vehicle is automatically braking at low speeds when there is no reason to do so. It is as if the vehicle thinks something is there but there is nothing there
The headlights come on (this is fine), but the display dims to full night mode at the same time also. Although the instrument display night illumination level is adjustable with the dimmer switch, even at maximum setting the instrument panel cannot be well seen.
The Lyriq, as well as all current GM vehicles, use an icon on their instrument panel for indicating headlights are on that is incorrect. They use the symbol for parking lights rather than the symbol for low beam headlights on their instrument panel display.
