What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
My vehicle was met with an accident on June 28, 2026. The accident was very swear and driver get internal injuries like swelling on face pain in head and ribs due to the heavy shock. But non of the airbag has been activated for safety of driver.
My 2023 Chevrolet Suburban RST equipped with the 6.2L V8 engine has developed serious transmission and drivetrain issues following an engine replacement performed under a GM recall approximately one year ago. Shortly after the engine replacement, the transmission began exhibiting unusual shifting behavior.
The suburban slowed itself down and flashed on the driver screen "slow down/reduced acceleration". I was driving with my family in the car on the highway. The car forcing a slow down like that could have caused an accident that could have killed my 3 year old or my 9 year old.
As I was accelerating, my vehicle all of a sudden dropped adaptive cruise control, the engine light started blinking, traction control errored, and I got a service ESC message on the dash.
General Motors has already acknowledged this severe defect by issuing a major safety recall and extended warranty program (Campaign N242454440 / N242454441) due to internal fluid pressure drops that can cause sudden rear-wheel lockup or an abrupt loss of motive power.
Tuesday October 6th, 2026, I dropped my 2 children off at school and was driving on the highway to work through heavy traffic when I had a suddenly loud knocking coming from my car, transmission not wanting to shift properly, high rpm’s for extended periods of time.
I captured and retained all the oil removed, 8 quarts were captured so there is no evidence of oil consumption. On XXX, at 26,505 miles, I presented the cut-open filter to the dealer (Burns Chevrolet, [XXX]). It was not examined.
While driving, the digital driver/instrument display behind the steering wheel went completely black, but the engine continued running and the radio remained on. The vehicle was stopped, turned off and restarted and the display screen came back on. This didn't effect the drivability of the vehicle.
