What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Stopped at a stop light. Moving less than 1 mph, as vehicle left the stop sign it bumped into another vehicle in front. Upon impact, driver's side/ passenger's side air bags deployed, causing injury to driver and passenger. Contacted manufacturer.
Consumer impacted car in front at 12:oo position, drivers airbag failure on driver's and passenger's sides. Tt
While driving down a back road towards my home on december 18, 2010, the transmission suddenly slipped into a lower gear, although the shift was still in drive/overdrive. I could hear the engine straining. My car has "autostick," so I tried changing gears with that.
On june 28, 2010, the right front ball joint broke, causing control arm, strut damage, etc. Wheel was hanging off, and the car could not be move off road. After repair, I asked if it was safe to drive, wondering if other wheel would fall off too. I was assured car was safe.
The vehicle lost steering ability and the tire was turned to the side, and would not go forward. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic and they stated that the control arm failed. As a result, the failure caused the driveshaft, strut, and several parts relating to the control arm to fail as well.
Consumer heard a knocking sound coming from the transmission. Took vehicle to dealer, and they replaced the lower control arm bracket. However, the knocking was still present.
