What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
I've been experiencing issues with my a/c unit however, whether this issue has anything to do with what happened tonight or not, I don't know. I had gone to turn my 2006 chrysler town and country off while it was in park & it just started to roll backwards!
I was injured slightly but my seat belt was on. The key was jammed in the ignition and twisted and the car was shut down. The impact was that hard. I find it hard to believe that the airbags would not go off.
It was a clear day and the pavement was dry. I was driving about 55 mph on a 2 lane highway heading west on dayton-yellow springs rd near fairborn ohio. The car appeared to speedup on it's own, I hit the brakes and let up to try and gain control.
After filling fuel tank, engine would stall while in motion, stopped or at any speed on a road soon after leaving the fuel station. The engine stalling only occurred after a fill up and was not affected by weather conditions, fuel vendor or fuel amount pumped. No engine lights or codes showed up after the incidents.
The tire in may was a blow out at 70mph on interstate 10, the next tire was not a blowout. In all my life I have never had a tire blow out and never had two of the same tires fail so close to each other. Mileage on my van at installation was 102130 and mileage at failure was 144258 and the next tire at 145258.
As I accelerated the van shuddered and cut off in the middle of traffic!. Lost all power, steering wheel locked up, and the engine cut off. Luckily we were not in a head on collision or were t-boned in the side. My wife and 1 year old were in the car and could have easily been killed.
