What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Total brake failure occurred with no warning or indication (even the brake light did not illuminate). I was approaching an intersection with stopped vehicles slowly but could not get any brake response, causing a crash and then pushing until three other vehicles would be hit.
The seat did not latch and moved forward causing driver to lose control, resulting in a collision. (new jersey state police report)
07s57 my vehicle stalls on average 2-3 time per month, causing me to quickly put the car in neutral - restart the engine before all my breaks are gone. This has been happening for approx 3 years now. I've had a few close calls because of this. Ford recall no.
There was no vehicle fire associated with this mishap; however, I have seen pictures of fires due to this problem suffered by others. I am one among thousands of ford truck owners dealing with this situation.
I keep calling to get an appointment for the part(it has to do with the cruise control defect that can catch fire) and no one has the parts. In september, we receive a card saying that the that "unforeseen shortage" has made it impossible for ford to replace the part at this time.
Mabry inquired of the cost for the entire new engine replacement as opposed to only one cylinder repair, the response was--a minimum of $5600. Failure and its consequences: since vehicle owner mabry did not have $3500 , then mabry again paid another towing service to tow vehicle to mabry a distance of approx 150 miles…
The vehicle continued to vibrate. The consumer thought the new tires would solve the vibration problem, but it didn't. The vehicle also needed a new transmission.
Front rotors warp for apparently no reasonable cause. Master mechanic suggests its due to mass of rotors not large enough to handle braking loads, or bad materials. Same with warped rear brake drums.
