What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda valyrie motorcycle gold wing equipped with dunlop sportmax d254f tires, size: 130/60r19 mc/61h (na). While driving 8 mph, it felt as if the motorcycle was driving over bumps in the road repeatedly.
I have had this symptom happen maybe 5 or 8 times. I cant reproduce it at will. When slowing down rapidly in a low gear, 2nd or 3rd, the transmission disconnects! I have no engine braking and rpms drop to idle. And it is not a smooth feeling. Like it will grab and then release.
What to check before buying
- Engine. Cold start, unusual noises, oil leaks and engine codes.
- Powertrain. Shift quality under load, harsh shifts, transmission codes, CV joints.
- Tires. Tire age by DOT code, bulges, wear pattern.
