What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Sway bar light was flashing, brought to dealer needed new electronic sway bar due to corrosion. This is enclosed and should have no corrosion I was concerned that my jeep may go into a death wobble if I drove over 18 miles per hour.
On the 2008 jeep wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags.this has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2008 jeep wrangler (lhd) owners, including myself, and has…
Horn goes on & stays on, wipers go continuously, wiper fluid flows constantly, back up lights go on, heater fan goes off & on, the engine continues to run with the key out of the ignition and the last time the abs came on while I was delivering mail and my brakes locked up.
When trying to fill gas tank it will not take the fuel as it shuts the pump off. It takes about 20 minutes to put in $10 worth of gas in. It has progressively gotten worse.
The gas tank can not be filled without constantly re-starting the fuel pump, it stops every few seconds, it happens at every gas station or any fuel pump, so it is definitely not the pump but a problem with the jeep gas tank and/or it's components.
I have seen several people complaining about the same/similar problem in certain specific blogs/forums and in few cases the vehicle has actually caught on fire, so now I am wondering if this is a major safety issue and what to do about it.
My 2008 jeep wrangler rhd caught fire while I was driving. I was turning onto the hwy and drove a few feet and noticed smoke. I immediately pulled off of the road, shut the car off and popped the hood. As soon as I lifted the hood I saw flames!! I contacted jeep and they're "supposed to be doing an investigation".
Engine warning light came on upon starting vehicle. Checked all fluids, and that gas cap was tight. Contacted dealership who said to drive it for a few days to see if light remained on. Indicator light went off several days later.
