What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Airbags did not deploy, sensors keep going off, car keeps over heating even before accident did take it in to Mazda to be fixed two months prior.
The brakes did not work; the Automatic Emergency brakes did not work; the Forward Collision Warning did not work and I hit the car in front of me causing a 3 car accident. As I hit the car I saw the Forward Collision Warning come on and then go out.
The driver-side air bag failed to deploy. The driver mentioned the air bag should have deployed based on the impact. No warning lights illuminated or sounds occurred prior to the crash. The vehicle was traveling at approximately 35 MPH. There was no property damage.
While driving down the road a vehicle in front of me braked to stop for a bus loading kids, as I stepped on the brakes nothing happened and the vehicle surged forward.
While attempting a left-hand turn, the steering wheel suddenly became stiff and unresponsive, as if the mechanical gear had bound. This sudden resistance made it impossible to complete the turn, causing the vehicle to strike a curb at low speed.
The contact had called the manufacturer and was advised that there was no action that could be taken to adjust the distance separating the brake pedal from the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that his foot had been trapped on two other occasions. The failure mileage was approximately 700.
