What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
My abs sensor went on then off eventually an abs regen light came on and I had no brakes so I drove ,very carefully, 83 miles to my ford dealer ( with no brakes) to find out that I needed a complete replacement of my abs hybrid braking module. $3900!
The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the braking system failed with the illumination of the abs and brake warning lights. As a result, the contact crashed into a stop sign. The were no injuries. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified.
The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated the stop on the side warning message was illuminated. The contact was able to park on the side of the road and was able to restart the vehicle within 5 minutes. The contact stated he continued to experience the failure.
The coolant pump for the hybrid system may fail resulting in the hybrid electronics overheating. Consequence:if the hybrid electronics system overheats, it may shut down the powertrain, resulting in a stall-like condition, increasing the risk of a crash.remedy:ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and…
It would not start back up right away. I tried starting it about a half hour later and it started. I drove maybe 100 yards and the vehicle did the same thing. I finally got it to our driveway and it shut off again. It continues to do the same thing.even when not driving it.
The car shuts down the powertrain, resulting in a stall-like condition, and reads pull over safely now. This happens without warning while driving down city street and while parked.
My husband then pulled the parking brake from the passenger seat. I turned the car off to collect myself, hoping the failure was some weird fluke, and turned the car back on. It immediately did the same failure.
I was backing out of my driveway turning onto the road, when my power steering went out. I took my 2006 mercury mariner hybrid to the ford dealership. At first they thought there was a recall on it. It was the wrong year. It seems to me that ford would include 2006 if it is the same problem.
