What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
My abs sensor went on then off eventually an abs regen light came on and I had no brakes so I drove ,very carefully, 83 miles to my ford dealer ( with no brakes) to find out that I needed a complete replacement of my abs hybrid braking module. $3900!
Power steering went out, couldn't turn vehicle fast enough to avoid crash. Recall 14s05.
On friday, dec 13th, I was driving home in cruise control at 60 mph. My blood pressure dropped suddenly and I passed out at the wheel. I woke up just in time to crash, no time to react. I impacted, head on, a creek bank after jumping over the creek.
The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the braking system failed with the illumination of the abs and brake warning lights. As a result, the contact crashed into a stop sign. The were no injuries. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified.
Tl contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner hybrid. The contact stated that after applying the brakes in the parking lot the vehicle accelerated. The vehicle did not respond to the brakes and did not stop until the vehicle crashed into a parked vehicle.
In a hard-braking situation, brakes failed - no discernible deceleration at all, pushing harder than I've ever had to before. This made for rear-ending the guy ahead of me. Forensics investigator w/ mech found odb dtcs showed only p0a8d and b1318 - one of which shows a low voltage to abs system.
