What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
The ABS warning light was illuminated. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) had failed.
The contact activated the parking brake and continually pumped the brake pedal, and the vehicle was able to come to a stop. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired.
The contact stated that the ABS warning light, traction control, and brake warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the failure code U3000 for the ABS module was retrieved.
The contact stated she had to open the window to open the door using the outside door handle. The vehicle was taken to local dealer asheboro ford, inc. ([address], asheboro, [ZIP]: [phone]) where it was diagnosed with needing the front driver's side door handle to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired.
The contact stated that the power steering assist system failed while backing out of an inclined driveway. Also, the steering wheel seized, which made it difficult to turn. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 134,000.
I started the car, backed up and suddenly I had no power steering. No warnings just unable to budge the steering wheel. Car is still sitting at a restaurant . If this happened to anyone while driving there is no way they could control this car!
Service steering now light came on while driving, then the steering wheel locked. Had to have car towed to repair shop. It cost me $1780 to repair. Recall on the 2011 but not the 2010, sad situation.
Takata recall. Pursuant to safety recall notice 18s01/nhtsa recall 18v046, we have not been able to drive our car since june 5, 2018, almost two months ago. Although we now have access to a rental car, it is a problem not to have use of our own vehicle and is an ongoing inconvenience. When will the remedy be available?
