What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
The contact was informed that the vehicle was scheduled to be repaired for the crash damage; however, the vehicle had not been diagnosed to determine the cause of the unintended acceleration.
The Fire Department responded to the scene. The contact sustained body aches and neck pain the following day; however, medical assistance was not received. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot and was deemed a total loss by the insurance company after inspection.
The contact stated that while driving 30–40 MPH uphill, the vehicle decelerated unexpectedly, and failed to accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle rolled backwards.
I was stopped at a Red light & was hit from behind at approximately 55-60 Mph.And was pushed into a full size pick up truck in front of me at appx 35 feet. NOT ONE AIR BAG DEPLOYED.
My airbags did not deploy: not even the side airbags, even though the trunk was crashed/pushed up into the middle of the car, damaging the side supports between the front and back seats. ALSO, the driver's seat reclined fully upon impact!
After twenty minutes, the vehicle rolled away across a highway and crashed into a house. The contact was able to chase the vehicle, but the doors were locked. There were no reported injuries, air bag deployment, or fire. A police report was filed. While driving, an unknown malfunction light illuminated.
