What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
The contact stated that while the vehicle was stopped with the engine running, the contact exited a parking garage ticket booth and the vehicle independently accelerated. The vehicle crashed through the ticket booth gate and into a wall before coming to a stop.
When I put the car back in drive and let off the brake, it lurched forward, I then hit the brake and it continued to accelerate for about 20 feet and hit a granite wall.
Despite the severity of the impact, the side curtain airbags failed to deploy. This malfunction significantly compromised the safety of my family, leading to a 60% tear in my left rotator cuff, which required surgery.
No injuries were reported. A police report was taken at the scene. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 3,000.
The warning light came on in an inadequate time to prevent the collision. There were no other warning lamps
In September 2023 this Porsche Taycan 4S accelerated suddenly while going very slowly in reverse after displaying a red warning message on the dashboard "Electrical System Error." The brakes did not work and the car crashed into a house. No one was injured, but the car was declared a total loss.
