What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
My 2000 suzuki gsxr750 motorcycle slips out of gear when it is second gear. This problem began when the motorcycle had less than 3,000 miles on it. I have not only found other consumers with this identical problem with their 2000 gsxr's personally, I have found many others nationally through research.
Frame bracket that clamps around the engine mount is missing the pinch bolt that holds the right side secured. Suzuki knows the bolt comes out, but will not do anything about the problem. The steel bolt goes vertical into the aluminum frame from the ground.
When shaft is bend oil will leak, and oil could be seen on side of tire. Then, consumer did talk to manufacturer, and they could not help the situation. This happened without consumer knowing what could cause a major accident.
2nd gear would slip. Engine feels like is dying out when this happens. Have taken to bike shop, and was informed that it was a transmission problem. Took to mc shop and dealer was not honoring warranty for repairs. Charging to check engine & transmission for slippage.
(the road was dry) since then, there have been several times where I am accelerating in second gear and the engine speed momentarily jumps as if the tire is slipping. However, the road is dry and my chain is tight so it is most definitely the transmission that is slipping.
