Upon shifting into Reverse (R), the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated at a high rate of speed, striking and knocking down three trees on the property. Depressing the brake pedal again while in reverse(R) similarly caused the engine to rev higher.
Was driving at night going around a curve when the car jerked left sending vehicle into a spin. Hit bridge guard rail and car is a total loss. Toyota has a known issue with this LDA system in this condition. This is very dangerous system that Toyota needs to improve function.
The air bags failed to deploy upon impact. The contact's daughter suffered bruising to the chest and stomach but had not yet sought medical attention. A Police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to a storage facility and was waiting to be towed to another independent mechanic to be inspected.
I was slowly pulling up to the right side of the garage and the car surged forward at full speed 5 ft away. It smashed the front of the house. Filed a claim with USAA car insurance. Last year in August of 2025 I was in the Tag n Go car wash. I pulled up they stopped me and I put the car in neutral.
During the collision, the airbags did not deploy. Immediately after the accident, the vehicle displayed an “SRS Airbag Malfunction – Visit Your Dealer” warning message. I suffered whiplash and nerve-related injuries.
The front passenger's wheel detached. The contact stated that the vehicle was uncontrolable. The contact's vehicle crashed into a highway devider and a concrete wall. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. The vehicle was condemned a total loss. The contact was tranported to the local medical center.
