What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
I was seat belted in my vehicle. When the vehicle came to a final rest, then is when my seat belt popped (unlatched). I did not injury my body. However, I do not feel confortable knowing that my belt did not hold me. Will it hold me, god forbid that I have another collision going faster than 55 mph?( dot number: )
Consumer was in an accident and the rearview mirror fell off . Tt
Severe rust perforation occurring in frame of vehicle ( 1993 toyota pick-up) toyota customer service informed me nothing could be done for this year of vehicle.( complaint ref. No. [phone] filed with toyota customer service on 1/21/10 ) ----program is in place for 1995 - 2005 trucks with same problem.
Truck frame is rusted through. Being reinforced with steel pieces. The cab and truck bed wobble while being driven. Brake lines are rusted also.
My frame rusted through on the right side and the front axle bracket separated from the frame. The vehicle drove erraticaly until the bracket came to rest in the hole it left in the frame. Upon inspection the frame is rusted from the bracket forward to underneath the passenger seat.
While traveling home from work I went to use the brakes, there were no brakes as the pedal went to the floor. Upon inspection of the vehicle I found a metal brake line on the passenger side engine compartment was assembled so as it made direct contact with the metal fuel pressure return line.
Sidewalls of all tires are peeling off. White is extremely visible behind black sidewall. Tires have less than 30000 miles on them. These tires were made in the decator plant and have the vd designation in the dot square. Also there are enormouse cracks in the tread section of the tires. Again this is on all tires.
Tire tread separated from tire causing damage to the wheel well and body/ after incident occured the tire continued to retain full air pressure and still does to this date. The truck is in the repair shop damage is my estimated cost( dot number: 7b8pub tire size: 30x9.50r15 )
