My 2019 Audi e-tron developed a sunroof leak. On [XXX], Audi Exchange in Highland Park, IL repaired it as a known issue partially covered by warranty; I paid $526.53. On [XXX] it leaked heavily again from the same area, soaking the headliner, dashboard, carpet, foot wells and seats.
Furthermore, according to the manufacturer’s open federal safety campaign (NHTSA Campaign 23V867 / 93V2), this exact internal module self-discharge condition creates a documented critical thermal runaway and vehicle fire risk. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes.
The contact stated that water had accumulated around the sunroof and believed that the sunroof was the source of the leak. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.
Multiple times and at random times the vehicle reports "Central locking: malfunction! See owner's manual". When this happens, the driver's door is completely locked and driver cannot exit the vehicle. Door cannot be opened from outside either. So far this has only caused real delays, but this is a safety issue.
