When the battery voltage suddenly drops the vehicle loses its power steering making slow speed turns extremely difficult. This poses a serious risk of the inability to control the direction of the vehicle and this makes a crash extremely probable.
When in adaptive cruise control the vehicle must of not seen the lines properly and started to steer towards the ditch. Then when trying to steer back onto the road the truck keep trying to steer into the ditch.
The contact stated that while her grandson was driving at various speeds, the steering wheel locked and the vehicle lost power steering and functionality. The vehicle flipped over several times. An unknown warning light illuminated. It was unknown if the air bags were deployed. A police report was filed.
This resulted in the individuals seated on the passenger side of the truck to be thrown into the door fairly hard, with one passenger hitting her head on the window even with the seatbelt on. The point of impact was the drivers side back tire and bumper area.
The contact stated that while driving at 75 MPH, another vehicle side-swiped the contact's vehicle on the passenger's front side; however, the side curtain air bag failed to deploy. There were no injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an auto repair center.
