This campaign depends on previous work
19V-500 revised December 10, 2021 describes certain TL MY2012–2014 with PSDI-5 driver inflators previously installed as another recall remedy or service part. Dealer, warranty and repair records define population, not every factory TL airbag.

Airbag replaced alone leaves component type and date unknown. Retain actual identifiers/documents rather than substituting the model name. Body year and replacement-part provenance are distinct.
Rupture has specific conditions
The report concerns non-desiccated PSAN propellant. Long exposure to high absolute humidity, heat and temperature cycling can degrade it. On activation a degraded inflator may rupture and project metal into the cabin. Vehicle age alone does not establish that state.

Deployed airbag and ruptured inflator are different observations. Without component examination, do not infer rupture from an opened cushion. Activation circumstances, retained parts and cabin traces need separate records.
An invoice does not finish identification
The dated remedy replaces the driver inflator. It distinguishes affected vehicles from similar cars with another replacement supplier or campaign. Its population cannot become a denominator for rupture frequency across all TL.

Repair confirmation needs exact operation, fitted part and available tests. No SRS codes does not physically analyse propellant. No do-it-yourself inflator disassembly or individual internal-state finding is provided.
Why IIHS ran two impacts
IIHS lists MY2012 TL tests CEN1201/CEN1214. Interior test cameras failed in the first. Restraint/kinematic ratings therefore rely mainly on the second; injury and structure use both. This is recording instrumentation, not a reported production-airbag fault.
A repeat test need not mean vehicle-system failure. Body ratings cannot establish the chemistry of an inflator fitted years later. Identify the object studied and when its state was observed.
Historical scope, open questions
This covers neither every TL generation nor current VIN status. Replacement-part history, activation cause and inflator condition remain unknown without evidence. Keep confirmed cabin traces separate from theories about origin.
Applicability to the individual vehicle
- Historical MY2012–2014 scope does not establish prediction fitment or full-generation coverage.
- 19V-500 concerns prior replacement PSDI-5 inflators, not every factory TL or an inferred probability.
- First-test interior-camera failure is instrumentation, never a production-airbag claim.
