Ukraine registered 279,000 imported used cars in 2025; the share of US-market models tripled
According to open data of Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, 278,643 imported used cars were registered for the first time in 2025, the most since 2022. About one in five (19.7%) is a model sold mainly in the US market. This is not the country of import, which registration data does not record; we count by make and model. In 2019 the share was 6.3%.

What the numbers show
In six years the share of cars from America has tripled. In the Kharkiv region US-market models make up 27.4% of first registrations in 2025–2026, in Kyiv 24.5%, and in the Lviv region, which has the most registrations, 17.9%.
The median age of an imported car in 2025 is 7 years, against 11 in 2019. Imports are getting younger, and young cars from the US most often come from auctions after an accident.

The end of the tax break
In December 2025, 41,671 imported used cars were registered, almost twice a normal month: owners rushed before the import tax break for electric cars ended. Tesla had 24,140 first registrations in 2025 and only 5,420 in the first eight months of 2026.

How many really come from the US
US-market models are only part of the flow. According to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, 73,200 passenger cars were imported from the US in the first half of 2026, 43% of all imports (169,100, new and used together, over 70% used). In Ministry registrations for January to August 2026, US-market models make up about 17%. So the real flow from America is two to three times larger than model names suggest: much of it is Toyota, Hyundai, Mazda or Volkswagen cars built for or sold in the US.
