Ukraine: Kia and Tesla imports doubled, and three of the top seven used imports are electric
According to open data of Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, first registrations of imported used Kia cars doubled in 2025 compared with 2024 (13,656 against 6,921), and Tesla doubled too (24,140 against 11,849). Three of the seven most popular imported models of 2025–2026 are electric: Tesla Model Y, Tesla Model 3 and Nissan Leaf.
Who grew and who lost
Volkswagen remains the top brand (37,217 first registrations in 2025), followed by Audi (25,911) and Tesla. Kia, Tesla and Hyundai grew fastest, largely thanks to electric cars: Niro, Kona, Ioniq 5. Skoda, Honda, Subaru and Dodge lost ground.

Electric cars in the top
Tiguan, Golf, Octavia and Audi Q5 sit next to Tesla Model Y, Model 3 and Nissan Leaf. The import tax break for electric cars lasted until the end of 2025, so 2026 will show whether demand holds without it.

Age: few young cars
Only 17% of imported cars are up to three years old, while 39% are ten years or older. The typical import is 5–9 years old: out of warranty and often with several owners.

Regions
The Lviv region (60,302) and Kyiv (57,396) have the most first registrations. The Rivne and Volyn regions register more imported cars than the Dnipropetrovsk region and almost one and a half times more than the Kharkiv region: proximity to the western border matters more than population.

Our position
Ukraine’s used car market is becoming a market of used electric cars and young crossovers. For buyers this is a new risk: after an impact the battery and high-voltage wiring cannot be seen on inspection, and a repair can cost half the car.
