What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
In March 2026, I was driving on the freeway when the car shut itself off and put itself into neutral and accessory modes. There was no warning. This put the safety of myself and other drivers on the road at serious risk because I was unable to accelerate or adequately control my vehicle without warning.
The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V229000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal gasoline odor inside the cabin of the vehicle.
I have a concern with the power folding rear seats to increase the cargo space. It doesn't stopped if you are sitting in the seat and pushed the button. I tested it myself. This to me is very alarming and Genesis need to fix it or someone will get hurt or killed like the Hyundai Palisades case.
The battery drain, they claim, resulted in the car stopping by itself and starting by itself. The company has refused buyback under Lemon Law (not covering CPO), letters to the CEO have gone unanswered, multiple claims with Genesis corporate have resulted in no help and the local dealership is horrendous- no response,…
No warning lights came on. Nothing happened if I hit the gas or the brake or tried to change the gear. With the car being shut down, I could have been hit by other cars traveling at high rates of speed or caused an accident due to my car shutting itself off. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by a dealer.
At approximately 8500 miles a noise developed with the steering. It was a low pitched hum. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer a total of 3 times to repair the issue. They have performed the TSB work 3 times and it has not resolved the issue.
My tire got ripped while I was driving on the highway. This is 2024 vehicle and less than 20000 miles.
When starting from a stop the vehicle sometimes applies brakes with a collision warning, with no other vehicles in front or next to the car. This will repeat several times before the issue goes away. This has happened 4 times in the last 10 days. 2.
