What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
The sudden power loss caused a single-vehicle accident. No injuries. The vehicle had recall 25V437 service performed at [dealer] on 08/27/2026. The check engine light was documented as ON during that visit.
The contact stated that the air bags did not deploy in her daughter's vehicle. The driver did not sustain any injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was damaged but not totaled. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop. The manufacturer and the dealer were not called. The vehicle was not repaired.
The forward emergency breaking(feb) with pedestrian detection and predictive forward collision warning(pfcw) did not activate when I was starting up from a 4 way stop sign intersection on a city street. My 2019 qx50 was in motion when it crashed into another vehicle on the passenger door and wheel well.
The check-engine light began flashing, the engine started shaking and making a knocking noise, and the vehicle would not accelerate beyond approximately 20 mph despite pressing the accelerator. This unexpected loss of power created a serious safety concern because I could no longer maintain normal driving speeds.
While driving on the highway the vehicle would not accelerate and the oil pressure light came on. After pulling over we noticed a slight burning smell and cut the engine. After a few minutes we tried to start the car again and it would not start.
The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle stalled; however, the contact was able to pull off the highway safely to a safe place. There was an abnormal burning odor coming from the vehicle. The oil pressure warning light was illuminated.
The contact stated that the vehicle was shaking erratically. In addition, the oil light and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The dealer was made aware of the failure.
Bearing failure could cause engine damage or loss of power while driving, increasing crash risk. Warning lights before inspection: UNKNOWN. The exact composition of the debris is UNKNOWN pending testing.
