What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Emergency hand brake failure. Approx 2 years ago, we visited friends for dinner. I parked my car in their short, reasonably steep driveway. After dinner, and when we were getting ready to leave, my wife got into the vehicle and I was saying good night to our hosts, when the car started rolling backwards and crashed…
The vehicle rolled backward down the hill and crashed into a moving truck. There were no injuries. The contact stated the emergency brake would not hold unless there was tremendous amount of force used to pull the brake upward.
Driver (wearing seat belts) was partially ejected and died of resulting injuries when drivers side front door separated from vehicle. Also drivers air bag and pass side dash air bag failed to deploy although side curtain air bags did.
Passenger side window completely shattered from impact, however side curtain airbag/s did not deploy. Insurance claim still pending.
While driving at approximately 65 mph vehicle was hit broadside. Upon impact, side air bags failed to deploy.
While traveling on the interstate vehical's cruise control was activated when a gear box failure occured (this was the message displayed by the car), therefore resulting in the car stalling while going approx 55mph. The car was then stuck in the rear by another vehical that failed to notice my vehical slowing.
It then crashed into a concrete wall spun around and crashed the drivers door into a concrete piller it then straightened up and sped straight backward crashing into a 4 ft high wall where the engine cut off.
Also, while foot was depressing the brake pedal vehicle surged forward, hitting a tree.
