The front of the vehicle caught on fire. Also, the air bags never deployed. Updated 07/30/13.. *updated 09-18-13
Air bag did not deploy and driver (who was wearing a seat belt) sustained a fracture to the sternum with considerable pain after. Inspection of the vehicle revealed that the left air bag sensor was broken as a result of the accident, but air bag still did not deploy.
Along with the smell of burning rubber from the tires there was a hot smell coming from the vehicle. There were no warning signs prior to this incident. The vehicle has not been inspected to determine the cause of the problem.
The transmission failed shortly after the consumer received the recall notice. The consumer daughter parked the vehicle turned off the engine and locked doors, however minutes later she was informed that the vehicle rolling. She tried to stop the vehicle, but consequently it crashed into a townhouse.
Vehicle in neutral, parking brake engaged, went in reverse causing damage. The consumer stated when the vehicle was in neutral with the parking brake applied and the door opened, the consumer then went to close the door the vehicle went into reverse, rolled and hit a tree which caused $3000 in damages.
Upon impact, driver's side air bag did not deploy. Driver sustained arm and stomach injuries, and was transported by ambulance to a hospital. Vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection.
There aren't any leaks, however, it jerks and slips into a neutral state from time to time. First I began to add expensive fuel cleaners (didn't work), then I had it serviced by 3 different mechanics who all performed fuel emission cleaning.
