What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Will NOT start back up for 1-2 minutes. Control panel near gear selector will flash on and off message reading Hold brake and start button. Screen all black. This has happened 3 times this month. Car shut off in car wash, once started it would not shift from Park into Neutral or Drive for 60 seconds.
The thermostat suddenly failed, causing extensive engine failure. The engine failure was the direct and unavoidable consequence of a known manufacturer defect explicitly covered under Customer Satisfaction Notification 26B and TSB 09-006-25 / RSU 25-047 which should have replaced my thermostat or been a recall.
Then today, I was getting the same lane management warning and as I was stopped, my car did the same thing, threw me into park, put a bunch of different warning messages then said power steering requires service.
This has happened multiple times now and everything shuts down, power steering, etc goes out and I’m afraid it will cause a serious accident. This seems very dangerous. Dealership tells me they don’t have any idea how to fix it
The driver’s side sun visor at the main attach point broke when trying to move it from the stowed position. Prior to this, no looseness or other abnormal condition was known to exist. The plastic elbow which serves as the pivot point separated from the base with the electrical wires remaining attached.
On Monday, August 24th around 7:30am my wife was driving South in our Jeep and had just entered onto the freeway. There was heavy traffic and the early morning sunlight was impairing her vision.
