Airbags failed to deploy! Fortunately, this was a rather minor accident and nobody was injured, but I found out that the system had tried to deploy the airbags and failed. I don't feel like this vehicle is safe to drive anymore.
The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at 30 MPH, there was an abnormal clicking sound, and the steering wheel locked up, causing her to lose control and crash into an electrical pole. No warning lights illuminated.
The seatbelts locked up but the air bags did not physically engage. We took it into the repair shop today and they said that the airbag system DID in fact tell them to engage, but the air bags did not physically come out.
Steering wheel locked up and could not steer. Vehicle hit a guard rail.
My car did this so silently that the only alert I received was the crash itself; the car's collision avoidance system did not engage. My 14 month old baby was sitting in a rear facing car seat. Had other drivers not been careful, there would have been a side impact collision.
While driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. As a result, the contact's vehicle was rear ended by another vehicle. There were no injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing of the failure.
Vehicle rolled away despite transmission being in park position and struck a garage door. Owner states he confirmed vehicle was in park when he came to the vehicle in its final resting position. For one day prior to this occurance, a brake error message had come on and off in the vehicle.
The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed: p180531234. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.
