He was driving in the left-hand passing lane with adaptive cruise control (ACC) and lane following assist (LFA) system activated. Without warning or driver input, the vehicle's adaptive ACC with LFA system malfunctioned, the car drifted to the left, overriding driver control.
The vehicle was in a significant crash which smashed in the front end and popped both front tires during which the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle is available until the insurance company moves it to salvage. Since the airbag did not deploy my fiance suffered a concussion from hitting the steering wheel.
The frontal structure suffered severe damage, destroying the vehicle; however, the air bags failed to deploy. The driver was transported to the hospital via emergency medical services with back and neck injuries, including a fractured cervical spine. A police report was taken at the scene, and the vehicle was towed.
The Forward Collision Avoidance system activated and the vehicle came to an abrupt stop. Due to the failure, the contact was rear-ended by the vehicle behind. No air bags had deployed due to the failure. A Police report was filed. There was no injury sustained. The vehicle was driven away from the scene.
When hitting the pot hole, our SUV seemed to leap forward a bit and when the brakes were applied to slow and stop, the braking system failed (appeared to freeze) and the brakes did not work, and because the braking didnât work, our vehicle hit the car in front of us.
The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA) warning light was intermittently illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and attributed the issue to inclement weather.
