Acura TLX 2021–2025: sideways brake-pedal movement and mounting inspection

The pivot-pin defect, possible signs and limits of brake assessment after damage.

US MY2021 redesign; article MY2021–2025 · USA. Model years covered: 2021–2025.

The inspection framework was prepared by the editorial team. Repair procedures and parts applicability depend on documentation for the specific vehicle version.

This TLX has separate evidence

IIHS dates redesign to MY2021; CEN2008 used a MY2021 TLX, ratings MY2021–2025. Earlier-generation documents do not become repair requirements through the name alone.

Separate pedal, wheel brakes and accessible pipes after impact. A damaged front fender establishes neither pedal health nor the cause of unusual pedal feel.

25V391: securing the pivot pin

Honda’s June 12, 2025 report describes an omitted production step staking the pedal pivot pin. Sideways movement could cause unintended application or reduced ability to slow/stop. Possible signs include movement, unusual feel, a brake warning and brake lights staying on without pressure.

Record the actual signs with date/conditions. They need inspection to identify a defect. Bad brakes alone cannot distinguish the pedal from other untested components.

Model years do not replace production records

Supplier/production data define TLX MY2021–2025 scope, built October 23, 2020–February 28, 2025. The dated remedy inspects and replaces the pedal assembly as needed, not automatically on every TLX.

After earlier replacement identify the assembly fitted. Old campaign entry, new-part invoice and current inspection answer different questions; one cannot fill missing tests.

What to preserve before intervention

Record pedal position, accessible fasteners and messages before disassembly. Note if the original position has changed. A later new-assembly photo cannot describe the old behaviour.

Separate confirmed body deformation and pedal findings. Recall presence does not prove crash causation; impact does not exclude manufacturing. Attribution needs physical and temporal evidence.

Which repair outcome is established

Keep campaign applicability, mounting defect, performed work and control separate. No full pedal procedure, current VIN status or hydraulic-system health is supplied. Untested assemblies remain unknown.

Applicability to the individual vehicle

  • Specific supplier/production cohort, not all MY2021–2025 TLX; current VIN status unknown.
  • Unstaked pivot pin/side movement is not master-cylinder separation or proof of crash cause.
  • No invented pedal procedure/torques; test family does not expand component scope.
