Which pedal part has the defect
On specified Q3 MY2020, the metal pedal/footplate connection may be improperly welded. Heavy emergency-braking load could deform or detach the plate. Audi expressly distinguishes this from complete inability to press the pedal: foot-contact area is reduced.

What the inspection should establish
46i7 checks the pedal/plate weld. The manufacturer assessed the mechanism on a bench after a supplier’s welding-problem report. Connection quality, not rubber-pad appearance, determines this repair branch.

Ask the technician to distinguish missing rubber pad, metal-plate deformation and weld defect. A removed assembly needs baseline records and dismantling-change notes. Shoe wear does not measure weld strength; an outside photo does not reveal every hidden connection.
When the pedal is replaced
The remedy inspects the weld and replaces the complete pedal if improper. It does not prescribe independent rewelding. Name the connection condition and work performed; brakes OK alone cannot confirm this specific inspection.

After installation, check under relevant repair documentation. Diagnose other complaints separately: soft pedal, damaged pipe or wheel mechanism do not automatically belong to this defect. No welding parameters, forces or hydraulic-test settings are supplied here.
Reading traces after a crash
Describe the damaged plate, but it alone does not establish crash cause. History, baseline photos and part examination matter for sequence. Deformation during recovery/repair limits conclusions about its state during braking.
Years and applicability
20V-786 specifies certain Q3 MY2020 built July 14–August 14, 2020. Year does not replace cohort and pedal-replacement history checks.

IIHS dates body redesign to MY2019; VTN1912 was conducted by Volkswagen/Audi on Q3 MY2019. That frontal test does not identify pedal batches or extend 46i7 to all Q3 years.
Applicability to the individual vehicle
- Specified MY2020 cohort, not all Q3 or complete failure of every brake.
- Bench mechanism does not establish an individual VIN’s load or crash cause.
