Nissan Rogue: the flip key may fold while driving, only 31% fixed in the US

Nissan is recalling 712,458 Rogue 2014–2020 and Rogue Sport 2017–2022 vehicles with a jackknife key: the key may fold in the ignition while driving and switch off the engine. The campaign started in February 2023, yet as of Q3 2025 only 31% have been fixed. The Rogue is one of the most common imported models: 1,860 Rogues of these years are for sale in Ukraine after an accident, 1,190 of them with a US auction history.

What else to know about the 2017 Rogue

The 2017 Rogue has a separate recall, 22V875000: water may leak into the dash-side harness connector and corrode it. 57.9% fixed. For a car after an accident or with an unknown history, that is one more reason to check the cabin for signs of moisture.

Our position

The key recall fix is cheap: a spacer is inserted into the key. But nobody will do it automatically for a Ukrainian owner. If your Rogue has a flip key, check the VIN against both campaigns. And if the car had a front impact (58% of imported Rogues of these years did), see our front-end impact guide.
