What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
If the ignition key flipped to "off" position during the turn, power steering and power braking would be gone, and what driver described would make total sense. Especially taking into account that at that time the driver had several additional keys on the keychain.
The contact stated that while at a stop sign, another vehicle crashed into the front end of the vehicle and the air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The driver and the passenger were both taken to a hospital where there were injuries reported. The driver sustained neck and shoulder injuries.
When accelerating from a stop the vehicle severely jerks. The transmission fluid and filter have been replaced with no change in the condition. The vehicle had around 60,000 miles when I purchased.
Due to rusted rear right brake line, vehicle lost all brake fluid without warning and prevented vehicle from stopping in a timely manner. The lack of brake control caused right rear side of the van's body (just in front of the rear right wheel) to hit the protective barrier at the gas station.
The air bags did not deploy, and there were no injuries. A police report was filed and the vehicle was towed from the scene. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 102,000.
The seat belt did not properly restrain the driver, who sustained a mild concussion. The vehicle was able to be driven from the scene and was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician stated that all six seat belts needed to be replaced because they would not properly restrain a person during a crash.
I bought my chevy venture new with 10 miles on it in 2003 thought this van was safe had a head on collision with a tree 40-45 miles an hour the air bags did not deploy if not for wearing my seat belt don't know what would have happened ..
The vehicle was put into reverse without the brake pedal being applied, the vehicle slowly rolled backwards and crashed into a building. A small amount of damage was done to the vehicle. I sat in the rivers seat and was indeed able to move the gear shift from park to reverse without applying the brake.
