What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Most recently, at approximately 34,603 miles, I again reported tight steering, pulling to the right and shaking at highway speeds. On September 04, 2026, at approximately 38000 miles, while driving in wet conditions, I was involved in a loss-of-control/hydroplaning accident.
Car accelerated unexpectedly when braking at a parking spot. Car accelerated over the curb and hit another car.
Both involved the wheels locking during braking and a loss of steering control. On the third occurrence, on June 25, while driving on the freeway, the vehicle ahead braked suddenly. The driver applied the brakes and they initially responded, allowing the driver to slow and avoid hitting the vehicle in front.
When I pressed on the brake to stop the car completely the brakes failed and the car lurched forward about 10 ft and hit the church building damaging my front left bumper, buckling the hood and components behind the bumper.
Driving a Honda 2024 crv hybrid ,I was pulling into a front row parking spot and braking and as the car just about was going to stop it surged forward turning in the direction I had just pulled in from and accelerated instead of continuing to brake .
The contact stated that while her brother was driving at approximately 54 MPH as he turned the steering wheel to the left to follow the road, the steering wheel locked up and stayed turned to the left. The contact stated that her brother crashed into the highway barrier.
There were no reported injuries, fire, air bag deployment, or police report filed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was driven to an auto body shop. The local dealer was contacted, who referred to the Honda manufacturer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired.
After seeing the IIHS report on this 2024 Honda CRV rear seat safety issue shown in the crash test where the rear seat is deforming during offset crash I wanted to see if the NHTSA was going to investigate this issue further and request that Honda address this obvious safety issue.
