First Sportback and the actual batch
21V-295 dated April 26, 2021 lists MY2019–2021 Sportback separately, built November 26, 2019–December 15, 2020. Production/nut batches define coverage; Coupe/Cabriolet rows cannot substitute.

Identify body and installed fasteners. A matching invoice number does not identify the nut batch. Unknown replacement history does not establish an original assembly.
The documented defect is a broken nut
Audi describes stress-corrosion cracking in particular nut batches. Failure on the rear trailing-arm eccentric bolt could change alignment. An off-centre steering wheel in straight travel and pulling during braking/acceleration are possible signs.

This is different from suspension bent. Inspect actual nut presence, connection and neighbours. Steering offset alone identifies neither the faulty part nor rear-body-point geometry.
Intervention sequence matters after impact
Retain wheel/tire/suspension images before work. A dismantled connection no longer shows original tightening force. A nut absent after repair cannot establish its loss time.
Attribution needs traces, history and tests. Recall does not prove it caused a crash; impact does not exclude earlier defects. Missing original parts limit reconstruction explicitly.
Remedy depends on connection condition
The dated remedy replaces the nut, or the entire connection if already damaged. This is not full torque/geometry instruction; obtain relevant vehicle documentation.

Keep nut condition, remaining connection and wheel-position results separate. Final alignment does not examine removed fasteners. Suspension repair does not reveal which findings were checked.
Why a Sportback page uses an A4 test
IIHS identifies MY2018 introduction and expressly transfers driver rating CEN1614 from a MY2017 A4 Sedan on structural similarity. That is a rating transfer, not interchangeable arms, nuts or procedures.
Insurance Institute for Highway Safety: IIHS: 2019 Audi A5 Sportback
The individual nut batch, hidden damage and current campaign status remain unverified without data. Test-family years do not expand the recall.
Applicability to the individual vehicle
- Only A5 Sportback MY2019–2021; Coupe/Cabriolet/S5/RS5 not substituted.
- Batch stress-corrosion is not generic rust or proved crash cause.
- A4 rating transfer is not part interchangeability, fitment or service scope.
