What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Once there and after running the scan, I was told that there were active codes for the electronic power steering system and that this could of caused this issue, and that I needed to leave the Jeep with them, as it was not a safe to leave with it in this condition.
However no warning light or message came onto the screen. When i contacted the dealer, they said to get it to them, but i could not drive it, because the temp was steadly increasing and ended up having to get it towed. (Temp got to 270).
The failure persisted with the "Check Engine" warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the auxiliary battery was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and remained with the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed.
During these episodes, the vehicle entered an unmanageable failure state: the transmission locked in Park, the electronic emergency parking brake autonomously engaged and refused to disengage, and the vehicle rejected all power cycles.
When the kids are sitting in the seats there is an error on the drivers screen that states seat is not latched. I am concered the seat is not secured safely.
This is causing excessive wear of the tires and causes a bad vibration like a tire belt is broken. I have researched the internet and found that there has been several complaints of this issue with Wagoneers with air ride suspension.
I am requesting that NHTSA document and review this incident as a potential vehicle safety defect involving unintended acceleration and transmission/powertrain malfunction. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
