What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
My land rover evoque was running in my driveway in the park position (warming up). I stepped out of the vehicle to grab something from my house and within minutes I heard a bang, the car went into drive and smashed into my fence, continued to smash through the fence and landed into my pool.
The air bags failed to deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Two months prior to the crash, the brakes failed to respond. The contact pulled over and noticed fluid coming from the front driver side wheel.
There were no warning lights or messages that I recall indicating that the hood was not properly secured before it opened. The cause of the hood opening is currently UNKNOWN and the vehicle has not yet been inspected to determine whether the hood latch or related mechanism failed.
The head lights arbitrarily go off on their own when driving. It doesnât happened when going over something /bump in road. Turn lights back on & they go back off intermittently. Itâs very dangerous driving at night to all of a sudden lights go off.
The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH for two hours, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted, and the contact was able to pull over safely. The check engine warning light was illuminated.
There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to be restarted; however, the failure recurred. The dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
The vehicle was initially taken to an independent mechanic where both the fuel tank and an unknown battery piece were replaced; however, the failure persisted. Since the initial failure, the vehicle had been towed to various independent mechanics where the battery was replaced.
The contact became aware that the passengerâs side air bag warning light was not illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated that the restraint control module needed to be replaced, and that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V395000 (Air Bags).
