No warning lights illuminated. The driverâs and passengerâs side air bags did not deploy. There was no property damage. A police report was filed. The contact's wife sustained emotional distress. The other vehicle was unoccupied, and there were no injuries to anyone else.
The front airbags did not deploy in a front end crash on 12/17/2021. GEICO has the vehicle at their salvage lot after they declared it a total loss. Lincoln has been notified and their response was to have a dealer check it out. However, when I contacted a dealer, they said that is not something they do either.
I was advised by Lincoln that a potential plug in hybrid battery flaw could result in damage to the vehicle and its occupants. This flaw has been the subject of two Lincoln recalls /customer satisfaction notices. (25SC4 and 26N15).
There are no warning lights on the dashboard. Upon returning the vehicle to the authorized Lincoln dealership on 10/5/2026 to report this severe drop in performance, the service department stated "no repair" could be performed and that the vehicle was operating as intended.
In Lincoln's own words the lithium batteries are flawed and can cause a short circuit which can lead to a fire. This could lead to grave danger to life. I keep my car in my garage which could lead to a house fire and harm to my family. Their original temporary fix was to set the charging system to stop at 80%.
Then I noticed the car slowing down though I had not let up on the gas, which I now understand is called 'limp mode'. The screen said 'service vehicle soon'. It kept slowing down while I carefully pulled to the side of the road. Thankfully I had been in the right lane.
