What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
While driving down a steep hill the brakes went to the floor and the red "no brake" light came on. I was going around 30 miles an hour and luckily was in the country. I drove into a farmers field and put on the emergency brake.
My daughters (ages 5 and 2) were sitting in the front seat of my van and hit the gear shift and knocked it into gear and the van rolled into my brother-in laws truck almost pinning me between the two vehicles.
Consumer was sitting in line to pay her tow fee. Afterwards she stopped in line to let another vehicle get in front of her. And without prior warning, a tractor trailer hit consumer's vehicle. Upon impact, driver's side seat broke and twisted and thew her between passenger's seat. Dealership was aware of problem.
The main impact was around the location of my left headlight, driver's side and front. My airbag did not deploy, my seatbelt did not lock and restrain me and my back seat collapsed upon impact. Chrysler has sent an engineer to look at the van and I still have not heard back from them.
Vehicle was traveling at approximately 5 mph when loss of steering occurred. Consumer crashed into another vehicle. Upon examination, front lower control arm had cracked. A private mechanic has examined vehicle, and has yet to determine a cause for defect. Please provide any additional information/attachments.
While slowing with traffic another vehicle came from left hand lane at about 45 mph and hit consumer's vehicle on the rear. Then, consumer hit car in front of him. Upon impact, driver's seat broke and fell backwards. The passenger seat broke too. The air bags failed to deploy.
The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the clockspring. The vehicle was not repaired.
My van has been accelerating when I am (applying) putting on my brake to stop, making my van rev, skip & jerk. This has been going on for over 2 months
