What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Consumer tried to step on the brake and the vehicle did not stop, knocked into vehicle in front. Brake pedal was so hard that felt likes somebody was holding the pedal. Dealer nor manufacturer were contacted.
Vehicle rearended while at standstill by vehicle traveling 40 mph, causing vehicle to crash into rearend of another vehicle, airbag did not deploy; also, driver's seat back collapsed, causing driver to fall backwards; warned by attorney not to give injury information.
Right rear wheel/axel tore off vehicle, causing loss of control, loud noise.
Rear lift gate tends to open, even during a small impact. Tt
The contact stated that while the vehicle was in the driveway the brakes failed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake actuator and actuator assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired.
While driving approximately 30 mph, the brakes lost power. The contact applied excessive force to the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. In addition, the anti-lock brake and an unknown warning indicators illuminated.
Recall campaign 97v079000 concerning liftgate support bracket. Owner took vehicle to the dealer for recall repairs, and had the work done. However, the defect had not been repaired properly. Vehicle was back to the dealer on three occasions . They installed the screws to hold it on, and the screws kept falling out.
When this happens--driving becomes very difficult (no power steering available then). It takes a while to get it fixed. I've been stranded quite a few times because of this problem. I have a friend with the same kind of van and has the same problem.
